Chapter 177: The Mysterious Key
Those words would be much more believable if the excitement in her eyes wasn’t so obvious.
She succeeded in finding a key in his pocket, which surprised Xiao Ying even more. She had not expected Cheng Yang to carry the key with him everywhere, and she was even more curious about what was in the room.
After getting the key, Xiao Ying once again went to the tightly shut door. However, this key did not belong to this door. She did not give up and tried again, but she could not open it.
She felt even more puzzled. Then what was this key for?
She paced back and forth outside the door and accidentally looked up. There seemed to be something in the small night light at the top of the door. She reached out and found a key. After giving it a try, the door was finally opened.
Xiao Ying temporarily put away the other key and entered the room.
The last time she had come, she had been stopped by Cheng Yang the moment she entered. She hadn’t seen anything at all. This time, the entirety of the room was in front of her.
In the middle of the room was a television. It was strange. No one would place a television in the middle of a room. On the right side of the television was a small cabinet. Nothing else was there.
Xiao Ying walked over to the cabinet and opened it to see a CD inside. She took it out and placed it in the DVD player. The moment the TV was turned on, she became a little nervous.
On the television, there was a piece of news from many years ago. A man had abused his wife and been arrested, then committed suicide in prison.
Xiao Ying frowned, not knowing what this had to do with Cheng Yang. She looked at it repeatedly before finding a child in the video of the man being interviewed by the reporters. This child looked a lot like Cheng Yang. Based on the timing of the news, this boy should be Cheng Yang when he was young.
Could the man who had abused his wife be Cheng Yang’s father?
Questions surfaced in Xiao Ying’s heart again. No matter what, even if this man was Cheng Yang’s father, there was no way to explain why Cheng Yang had become a serial murderer and killed all his relatives. There must be a reason for this, and it must be related to this man.
Xiao Ying could not understand what was going on. She tidied up the room, locked the door, and put the key away.
The next morning, Xiao Ying heard the doorbell, but from the peephole, she saw no one.
Opening the door, her feet accidentally kicked at something. She looked down and saw a little rabbit plushie. When she picked it up and saw the same red string tied to its tail, she knew whose it was.
She quickly ran out and looked around the entrance but saw no one. She could only take the little rabbit into the room.
Qiao Zihao hid in the dark as he watched her enter and heaved a sigh of relief.
Xiao Ying held the little rabbit doll in her hand and touched its head. Its entire head was hard, and it was in the same situation as the little teddy bear from last time.
After confirming repeatedly, Xiao Ying wondered if Qiao Zihao was using the doll to store something. Could it be because of this doll that he had not fallen asleep with the amulet last time?
Then that meant energy was stored here.
Xiao Ying instantly figured out what it was. She took the rabbit into Cheng Yang’s room. As soon as she approached his bedside, the rabbit in her hand started to change and slowly soften.
Only when the rabbit had returned to the softness of cotton did Cheng Yang open his eyes.
The amulet suddenly sizzled and disappeared.
Xiao Ying ignored the abnormality of the amulet and asked, “Brother, how do you feel?”
Cheng Yang looked at her and shook his head. “I’m fine.”
Xiao Ying asked, “What exactly happened between you and Qiao Zihao that day?”
Cheng Yang said, “I don’t remember much.”
Xiao Ying was shocked by the feeling in her hand. She didn’t continue asking about the matter. “It’s fine. You just woke up, so you should rest well. I’ll prepare some porridge for you.”
