Chapter 63: The Annual Field Trip
Everyone was looking forward to it in excitement.
The new homeroom teacher waved his hand and told them to go home and pack their things. They would gather at the school gate tomorrow and leave.
The new homeroom teacher was a refined-looking young man around 30 years old, and every once in a while, he would pay attention to Xiao Ying’s situation.
When Xiao Ying returned home, she told Cheng Yang about the situation. They needed to stay in the mountains for a night.
Cheng Yang wanted to take Xiao Ying out to buy things, but Xiao Ying was too lazy to move. Cheng Yang could only make a call and get someone to send the camping equipment over.
Xiao Ying took out her little yellow duck backpack and stuffed clothes, pajamas, and toiletries into it.
When everything was ready, Xiao Ying asked in confusion, “Where’s my tent?”
Cheng Yang looked at his phone and made a humming sound before falling silent.
Xiao Ying ran over and sat beside Cheng Yang. She asked again, “Where’s my tent?”
Cheng Yang put down his phone and said, “Someone will give it to you tomorrow. I’m worried about you bringing it yourself.”
Xiao Ying glared, not expecting Cheng Yang to have such a thought. “But all the other students are bringing it themselves.”
Cheng Yang said matter-of-factly, “My little girl is naturally special.”
Thinking of children’s social circles, Cheng Yang added, “Don’t worry, they won’t say anything.”
These words were true. After the parent-teacher conference, everyone had been asked by their parents to build a good relationship with Xiao Ying.
Even if they could not be on good terms, they could not become enemies.
Seeing that Cheng Yang was insisting, Xiao Ying nodded.
The next day, Xiao Ying came to the school gate.
Rows of primary school students stood obediently, each of them carrying a huge backpack.
Only Xiao Ying was carrying her little yellow duck backpack amidst the crowd.
This attracted a lot of attention, but like Cheng Yang had said, no one dared to say anything.
The new homeroom teacher walked over and announced that the students should get on the bus.
Everyone lined up and got on the bus one by one, finding their seat and sitting down.
Xiao Ying happened to be sitting with Shen Meijia. Both of them felt that it was a huge coincidence.
The bus moved out slowly. Considering that it was a spring outing, the route was set to contain some beautiful scenery.
The bus was driven at an extremely slow speed. The students were all looking out of the window curiously, chattering away.
Xiao Ying’s class was led by two teachers. One was the homeroom teacher, and the other was the English teacher, Ms. Wen.
Seeing that the students were very enthusiastic, Ms. Wen suggested that they sing together.
The students sang the song “Childhood” together.
After the atmosphere reached its peak, some people started to compare who could sing better.
Seeing that the situation was getting out of hand, and she was the one who came up with the idea, Ms. Wen became a little anxious.
An idea coming to mind, she said, “How about this? Let’s invite some students to perform their special talents for us.”
After hearing they had to sing alone, the two people who were arguing the most fiercely stopped talking, suddenly shy.
Ms. Wen heaved a sigh of relief. Although no one stepped forward and it was a little awkward, at least the situation was under control.
“Since no one wants to perform, we’ll—”
“Ms. Wen, I would like to sing a song for everyone.”
Ms. Wen looked at Xiao Ruoxuan and smiled warmly. “Sure, everyone, let’s clap and give her a warm welcome.”
The students were all very supportive.
Xiao Ruoxuan smiled generously and stood up. She bowed to the students on the bus and started singing.
As Ms. Wen taught English, Xiao Ruoxuan deliberately sang an English song.
When the song ended, all the students exclaimed in surprise. Although they did not understand it, in their eyes, English songs were trendy.
Ms. Wen also nodded in praise.. To be able to sing such a difficult English song at this age was indeed very impressive.
