Chapter 226: Past Love

Early in the morning, bright sunlight shone into the room.

In the living room, Jin Yang tried to help the children pack their bags and saw them to the door.

In the kitchen, Qiu Tong was wearing an apron. She was making a soup according to a recipe, and a fragrant aroma soon wafted out of the pot.

Jin Yang stretched his body and walked to Qiu Tong’s side in his loose pajamas. “Do you need my help?”

Qiu Tong turned on the tap to wash the children’s utensils. She nodded in the direction of the refrigerator. “Ke Le and the others bought a lot of prawns and crabs yesterday when they were shopping in the supermarket. Help me prepare them. We will steam them for dinner.”

Jin Yang nodded and followed her instructions.

The villa was very quiet. Warm light shone on the two of them. Even though neither of them spoke, they felt very relaxed and at ease.

Jin Yang was in a tense state every day at the official residence of the capital.

Here, he seemed to be able to shed all the pressure and burdens and enjoy the warmth and happiness of family life.

Qiu Tong stood on her tiptoes, wanting to open the cupboard door and place the dishes inside. Jin Yang appeared from behind and hugged her as he took the items. Qiu Tong pressed her back against Jin Yang’s muscular chest, her heart beating faster.

“You seem to be very good at housework.”

Qiu Tong lowered her eyes to look at the hands at her waist. She suddenly recalled Song Yan’s warning and hints. “Are you as considerate and caring towards your former girlfriend?” Qiu Tong did not realize her voice held a hint of jealousy.

Jin Yang paused. He gripped Qiu Tong’s shoulder and made her turn around.

Their eyes met. Jin Yang felt as if two hands were gripping his heart, making it difficult for him to breathe.

The image of the woman’s back in his dream surfaced in his mind. A white light flashed past and the intense pain in his temples made him press his thin lips together.

Qiu Tong saw the thin layer of sweat on his forehead and raised her hand to wipe it for him. However, Jin Yang instinctively held her wrist tightly, his eyes cold.

Three seconds later, Jin Yang regained his clarity. Cold sweat drenched his clothes.

He shook his head, confusion flashing across his eyes. “I don’t remember.”

Jin Yang didn’t want to lie to Qiu Tong, but such an ambiguous answer made Qiu Tong misunderstand. “I don’t have any intention of probing into the president’s private matters. I just want to know why you guys broke up. I want to try my best to avoid the problems that happened in the past. This will be good for the both of us…”

Qiu Tong replied in a fit of pique. She pushed Jin Yang away and wanted to walk around him. “Please stay away from me!”

“We’re in a marriage of convenience. I can cooperate with you to pretend to be a married couple in front of the children, but I also want them to have a complete family, as well as a perfect father who can be relied on. A father they can be proud of.”

“It’s just the two of us now. You don’t have to pretend. I won’t interfere with the president’s personal life.”

Jin Yang didn’t understand why Qiu Tong was suddenly so angry. He blocked her path. “Is this really how you think?”

“Was what happened last night all fake?”

Jin Yang grabbed Qiu Tong by the waist and threw her onto the sofa in the living room, before leaning over.

Qiu Tong bent her knees in dissatisfaction and wanted to attack. Jin Yang noticed in advance and used his long legs to separate her legs. He bent over and kissed her.

Qiu Tong bit his lips angrily, the thick taste of blood spreading between their lips.

“I like you.”

Jin Yang said in all sincerity. Qiu Tong met his deep eyes and sank into his heartfelt confession. She sighed softly.

Outside the villa, Shao An led the presidential guards to patrol the surroundings.

A guard saw a figure flashing past the security booth. He ran over warily to investigate, but didn’t manage to catch the person.

He came back and reported the situation to Shao An. “Should we tell the president…”

After all, the guards could tell how much Jin Yang valued the Qiu family. They didn’t dare to delay.

Shao An took out the gun at his waist and counted the bullets inside. “You guys get the surveillance footage from the management of the estate and carry out an investigation. After you confirm the other party’s identity and motive, you can report to Mr. Jin Yang. Don’t disturb him over such a small matter…”

Shao An stole a glance at the French windows beside the main entrance of the villa. He did not want to barge in and disturb his boss. He might be reprimanded!

“Hey, hey, hey! Auntie, what are you doing?”

Just as the guards were about to split up and carry out their mission, they saw a middle-aged woman with fluffy, permed hair rush to the door of the villa and press the doorbell.

Ding Dong. Jin Yang instinctively separated from Qiu Tong. He gently supported Qiu Tong’s waist and helped her pull down her shirt.

Qiu Tong tidied her messy clothes as she walked to the door. She cleared her throat and opened the door slightly. “Who is it?”

The neighbor saw that her face was flushed red and nosily stuck her head in to take a look.

“What’s the matter?”

Jin Yang asked in a low voice as he held Qiu Tong’s shoulder.

The neighbor suddenly remembered her purpose of visit and hurriedly pointed in the direction of the kindergarten. “Go and take a look!”

“Qiu Xingyuan and the rest are at the police station now!”
