Chapter 174: Visiting The Prison
In S City’s prison, Mayor Shen rushed out to welcome Qiu Tong and her group.
When Mayor Shen saw Qiu Tong’s anxious expression, he hurriedly explained, “Mr. Qiu is fine. He has been transferred to a separate cell.”
“I’ll arrange for you to meet him now. No one will disturb you!”
Qiu Tong heaved a sigh of relief after confirming that Qiu Rong was safe and sound. She thanked Mayor Shen and followed him to the guest room.
Qiu Rong sat on the chair nervously. He heard the door open and stood up.
Little Yu smiled brightly and threw herself into Qiu Rong’s arms, calling him “Grandpa” coquettishly. Qiu Rong bent over and stroked her face, his old face filled with joy and excitement.
Qiu Xingyu giggled and reached out to touch Qiu Rong’s stubble. “It’s a little ticklish!”
Seeing that he was safe and sound, Qiu Tong gently pushed Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao over to Qiu Rong’s side. “I heard that there was a riot in the prison? Why did Mayor Shen transfer you to a separate cell? Is there something wrong?”
Qiu Rong was a little hesitant, but he still chose to tell her the whole story.
“I was almost murdered by a fellow cell-mate. If not for Song Yan, I might have died.”
Qiu Tong was shocked and somewhat surprised. She recalled that on the afternoon of the prison riot, she had clearly been with Song Yan.
They rushed to the neighboring city together. How could Song Yan have had the opportunity to appear in prison and save Qiu Rong?
Qiu Tong noticed something amiss and wanted to probe further about the details of the incident, but Jin Yang strode into the guest room and interrupted her.
“Mr. Qiu might have remembered the time wrongly. The riot in the prison happened in the morning…”
“I settled things here before meeting up with you.”
Jin Yang shot Qiu Rong a look before deliberately changing the topic. “That previous cell was dark and cramped. It’s not suitable for long-term accommodation.”
“Mr. Qiu, how is your current room? If you need anything else, you can ask the warden. They will help you with it.”
Qiu Rong hesitated for a moment, but he quickly felt that Jin Yang’s words made sense. He rubbed his forehead and explained to Qiu Tong, “It’s possible that I remembered wrongly. You know that after living here for a long time, your memory will inevitably get messed up.”
“My current room is very good. There’s no need to trouble them anymore.”
Qiu Tong looked at Jin Yang’s face. The doubts in her heart intensified, and a strange feeling welled up.
Everyone chatted for a while in the guest room before Qiu Tong left with the three children.
Just as they were about to leave the prison, the warden ran over with a prepared name list and reported to Jin Yang about the progress of their investigation.
“Additional punishment and labor reform are already being carried out on the prisoners who caused trouble.”
“However, the prisoners who managed to escape are still at large. We haven’t managed to capture them yet. Nevertheless, none of them are hardcore criminals. We’ve already distributed their photos and arrest warrants. The moment we get any leads, we’ll immediately arrest them.”
“This is a list of the escaped prisoners. I think there’s someone called Yu Ge…”
The warden found out that the reason for Yu Ge’s imprisonment was related to Qiu Tong, so he specially mentioned it.
When Qiu Tong heard that Yu Ge had escaped from prison, her expression turned solemn and guarded, worried that he would come looking for trouble.
