Chapter 116 : The Returned SamoyaZhang Zian made a concession. “How about this? You both are my first customers. I will give you both free memberships. You don’t have to deposit any money and I will teach your cats stunts. This is a onetime offer!”
Zhao Qi was happy about Zhang Zian’s offer, but she didn’t show it. “Are you serious?”
“Of course! She could be the witness.” Zhang Zian pointed at Liu Wenying.
Zhao Qi grabbed Liu Wenying immediately and said, “Did you hear?”
Liu Wenying forced a smile. These young people were hard to understand. Sometimes they couldn’t care less about how much they spent, while sometimes they could also be nickel-and-diming all day long.
Zhao Qi got what she wanted, so she accepted it.
“Okay. Liu Wenying is the witness of our conversation. I will believe you for once.”
Zhang Zian had her write down her information. “Write down your name, cell phone or WeChat number. I will let you know once our system is officially running, and you can then come pick up your member card.” He then looked at Liu Wenying and said, “Please feel free to join.”
Zhao Qi and Liu Wenying wrote down their contact in a notepad.
“When are you going to teach Lan Lan stunts?” Zhao Qi asked as soon as she finished writing.
“I am planning new stunts. I will let you know when I am ready. You may come back. Then, your cat could learn two stunts at a time. Great deal, huh?”
Zhao Qi was speechless. Liu Wenying was satisfied. “That sounds great! Zhao Qi, let’s go! Mr. Manager has to work.”
Zhang Zian gave them a receipt.
When they first arrived, Liu Wenying let Yue Yue play on her own so she could talk to Zhang Zian. She was standing right at the door so she wouldn’t worry about Yue Yue walking out of the store. It was now time to go, so she yelled, “Yue Yue, where are you? We have to go!”
Yue Yue replied with her young voice, “Mom, I am watching TV with a cat.”
Zhang Zian turned around and saw Yue Yue squatting next to Old Time Tea. They were enjoying a cartoon show together. When he looked closer, they were watching the kids’ channel.
Zhao Qi and Liu Wenying walked over curiously.
Liu Wenying couldn’t help but laugh. “What an interesting cat! It is even wearing a vest and a bamboo hat, just like a person!”
Zhao Qi stared at Zhang Zian. “What’s wrong with you? Are you from the Qing Dynasty? People dress up their cats with modern clothing, but you are putting a vest on your cat?!”
That was out of Zhang Zian’s expectation. He fought back just the way he had always done. “Well, now you know. In fact, my full name is Zhang Aisin-Gioro Zian.”
Zhao Qi said, “…I will believe you if you have a long braid. Why don’t you show us your family tree and your ID?”
Zhang Zian laughed. “Well, she likes wearing a vest. It is comfortable. You are not her. You don’t know if it feels good.”
“How about that bamboo hat?”
“To prevent her from being hit by stuff falling from above!”
“Bullsh*t!”
Zhao Qi didn’t believe him. However, it was his cat and it was none of her business.
“Come on, Yue Yue. Let’s go home!” Liu Wenying waved at her daughter and then said goodbye to Zhang Zian. “Mr. Manager, we are leaving now. Thank you.”
“That’s fine,” he said, “Come back soon!”
“Of course he wants us to come back…” Zhao Qi wasn’t completely happy because she felt like she was tricked by Zhang Zian again.
As he sent them out the door, two men came running up carrying a dog in their arms. They were approaching the Amazing Fate Pet Shop.
As the two men came closer, Zhang Zian recognized them. They were Tiny Chubby Tiger and the middle-aged man who bought the first Samoya from his store. The middle-aged man was holding the dog, looking p*ssed off. Still wearing his school uniform, Tiny Chubby Tiger was crying as he ran and kept wiping off his mucus on the uniform.
Zhang Zian knew the Samoya was sick because he looked extremely tired.
“Look at him! What a profiteer! He sold us a sick dog!” The middle-aged man started yelling when he was 30 feet away.
Zhao Qi dragged Liu Wenying behind and winked at her. She wanted to stay and find out what was going on.
Liu Wenying hid Yue Yue behind her. She wasn’t going to stay for the scene because she was worried that her daughter would get hurt if those men started fighting. Curiosity won; she stayed.
The two ladies were standing in the corner with Yue Yue and their cats. They should be safe there.
The middle-aged man looked mad as hell. Zhang Zian knew he had to take responsibility in stopping the situation from getting worse.
Zhang Zian raised his voice and said, “Well, don’t worry. Take the dog inside. If it is our fault, I will give you a full refund.”
Zhang Zian’s calm attitude might have eased the tension. The middle-aged man’s face moved slightly and he didn’t say anything. He constrained his anger and walked inside. As he walked in, he hit Zhang Zian’s shoulder on purpose.
Fina lazily stretched her back and stood up from the cat tree.
Old Time Tea turned his head, looked at her, then focused back on the TV.
Zhang Zian didn’t get mad at the middle-aged man. He cleared the cashier’s desk, put some old papers on top and had the man lay down the dog.
Tiny Chubby Tiger cried, “Is Ball going to live? I don’t want him to die…” He kept weeping, “Mr. Manager, please save him. Please save him!”
Although not a vet, Zhang Zian had seen enough sick pets through the years.
“Don’t worry! He will be fine,” he assured Tiny Chubby Tiger.
Although tired looking, the Samoya’s eyes were still sharp; therefore, Zhang Zian knew he was fine. He first sniffed Samoyas mouth. There wasn’t any odor. He knew it was not the most fatal illness – acute food poisoning, which could come from any food he ate when he was outside.
“What are the symptoms?” he asked.
“Mr. Manager, when I bought this dog, you said he had all the vaccines, right? Now he is vomiting and pooping. My friend told me that you tricked me. This dog was not vaccinated. He might have gotten CPV!” The middle-aged man’s eyes popped out. He was talking extremely fast.
“Don’t worry! It is not infectious!” Zhang Zian looked him in the eyes. “Honestly, if the dog got CPV, not only will you get your money back, but I’ll get mine back too. I will not let the breeding base go if they tricked me. Just relax and tell me what happened.”
He checked Samoya’s bottom and noticed some loose stools. The color looked okay, so it shouldn’t be serious.
He then felt Samoya’s belly and knew what happened.
