Chapter 97 : Untitled
At the thought of this, Ji Zhiyao instantly felt guilty. He thought for a moment and leaned his face over, his smile full of flattery.
Mo Huaifeng: “Stay away from me... why are you smiling so disgustingly?”
Ji Zhiyao: “Captain, are you thirsty? Do you want Cola or plain water? Yogurt or Bacardi?”
Mo Huaifeng: “Bring a bottle of pesticide, I guarantee I can pour it all into your mouth without a single drop left.”
Ji Zhiyao: “... Captain calm down.”
Mo Huaifeng: “As long as you maintain a 2 meter distance from me for a day, I will probably be able to calm down.”
Ji Zhiyao made an “oh” sound, quietly shifting himself out of Mo Huaifeng’s sight, just in case he was really murdered by his Captain who was currently in a rage.
Xiao wanted to say something, but when he saw Mo Huaifeng’s blank and long face, he instantly shut up and retreated continuously till he was by Ji Zhiyao’s side before he exhaled deeply. “Scared me to death.”
Ji Zhiyao silently turned his head to look at him.
Xiao’s hand that was patting his chest out of lingering fear put down right away. He curbed his expression and said seriously, “This won’t do, everyone out there knows that our jungler ADC team up isn’t easy to go up against. Once this advantage is readily lost, I’m afraid Captain will be ganged up on.”
“Who would’ve thought that Captain and I are like our horoscopes do not match... I feel very hopeless too.”
“Promise me, try your best to build up your rapport with Captain alright?”
“I wish do so too, the key is those words from Captain obviously meant that he didn’t even want me touching the computer, what do I use to build rapport with him, thoughts?”
“This idea is not bad, ” Xiao mused.
“... Brother Xiao, it seems you are teasing me.”
“I’m being serious. You should observe Captain’s actions, see when he wants to do when he raises his hand, what he wants to do when his expression is cold. Isn’t the chemistry between many people cultivated this way? I believe you can do it.”
Was that so?
Ji Zhiyao looked doubtfully towards Xiao and found Xiao nodding all seriously at him.
He didn’t have much experience and trusted that Xiao was not lying to him.
Hence Ji Zhiyao picked up a pillow and began observing each and every movement of Mo Huaifeng from afar.
This also resulted in an hour later, when the team dictator finished a match and picked up his glass for a drink, his peripherals accidentally sweeping by the gaze right on him, in him being so shocked that he almost threw the glass out.
Mo Huaifeng shouted, “Ji Zhiyao!”
Ji Zhiyao was beaming with joy. “I’m here, I’m here! What’s wrong Captain, is there not enough water for you?”
Hence during dinner time, as the invisible air-conditioning around the table was too strong, the other members of Mix were all shivering in their seats like quails, afraid that in an unguarded moment they would be afflicted by Captain’s anger.
Only one single person, constantly circling Mo Huaifeng, unafraid of death.
“Captain why are you frowning? Is it because this dish is too salty?”
Mo Huaifeng remained silent.
“Captain why are you looking at me? Did you want me to pour a glass of water for you?”
“...”
“Captain, you continuously didn’t blink, does that mean that I’ve guessed correct? That’s great, since I guessed right, you should get the water yourself.”
Mo Huaifeng was confused.
Beside him, Xiaofei finally could not hold back his curiosity, his gaze remained steadily on his own plate but he secretly poked Ji Zhiyao’s elbow. “Brother, what are you doing?”
Ji Zhiyao replied in a low voice, “Cultivating the chemistry between Captain and myself, so as to prevent Captain losing control and crushing me to death in the future.”
“... What?
“But you being like this... I’m more worried that Captain will lose control and kill you right now.”
Ji Zhiyao hesitated. “I guessed so accurately... I don’t think that will happen.”
“As long as you’re happy.”
The clear and sharp sound of chopsticks being slammed onto the bowl suddenly sounded by his ears, Ji Zhiyao instinctively turned towards the source of the sound and found Mo Huaifeng looking right at him, his gaze neutral, unable to tell his mood. “Ji Zhiyao, follow me outside for a moment.”
Yuan Wei was shocked. “What’s going on now?”
Mo Huaifeng stood up, both hands in his pockets. “Don’t interfere, eat your food.”
He walked in front, Ji Zhiyao followed. Before they left, his remaining companions in the dining room all freed up their hands, giving him an “all the best” gesture.
Ji Zhiyao was confused, not knowing what would be waiting for him later on.
Mo Huaifeng’s legs were long and he walked fast. Ji Zhiyao was afraid of making him wait and quickened his steps, following him. Turning past the corner, he realized Mo Huaifeng was partially leaning in the corner beside the door, his shoes already changed.
Without any reminders, Ji Zhiyao understood that Mo Huaifeng wanted him to follow him outside for a talk. He changed his shoes, when he looked up again he found that Mo Huaifeng had already walked out. His vision swept past the figure outside that wasn’t wearing any outerwear, hesitating for a moment, he followed out, not wearing any outerwear.
It was very cold outside, Ji Zhiyao could not help but shiver. The warmth in his body dispersed rapidly but his mind turned clearer.
Mo Huaifeng caught up to Mo Huaifeng in a few steps, calling out experimentally, “Captain?”
“Mm.”
Mo Huaifeng’s reply was neither soft nor harsh, his voice was neutral too.
“Captain, why were you looking for me?”
Ji Zhiyao stopped walking, looking puzzled at the person who had stopped as well, standing half a palm taller beside him and asked.
Mo Huaifeng questioned back, “What do you think?”
Ji Zhiyao thought for a moment, messing up his own hair, a little embarrassed. “Because of earlier?”
A few minutes ago, he didn’t think there was anything wrong... now that he thought back, Ji Zhiyao only felt that he had been an idiot.
Mo Huaifeng’s face was expressionless. “I still thought you weren’t aware of it yourself.” He paused for a moment, his tone becoming slightly warmer as he changed the topic. “I’ve fought with Xiao before, has he told you?”
Ji Zhiyao’s eyes widened as he shook his head, surprised.
Both of them lifted their legs and walked forwards slowly at the same time, Mo Huaifeng clamped his lips, seeming to be reminiscing. ” A year ago, after the previous international league ended, Mix reassembled, Xiao had just joined the team then. Back then he was young and aggressive, taking advantage that his skills were good, he caused chaos everyday as he contradicted everyone in the team. Yet all of us couldn’t do anything to him.”
Ji Zhiyao did not expect that Xiao who was so good-tempered now actually used to be a problematic youth, hence he asked, full of interest, “What happened after that?”
“At that time my international ranking had began rising gradually, the coach and stats analyzer thought that if we trained the bottom lane to become Mix’s advantage, it would benefit us a lot in competitions, so they started to train Nuo more, while letting Xiao try the jungler ADC team up with me.
“You know that the jungler ADC team up requires a certain level of teamwork and understanding. Xiao did not vocalize it but he was actually very unwilling deep down. In two months, nothing came out of our training. It was still fine if we played apart, if we played together, it was literally a mess.”
Mo Huaifeng paused for a moment, saying dismissively, “After that, we had three solo matches and I dragged him outside for a fight.”
