Chapter 45 : Cat And Mouse Game
Zhao Biao looked ahead in shock, his eyes wide.
F*ck, I was overtaken!
“Boo-”
“Zhao Biao, can you try harder?”
A burst of boos.
Upon hearing those boos, Zhao Biao swung his arms furiously and his muscles began to tighten. If he was overtaken by a girl, that would be a huge disgrace for him!
He started to exert his strength and everyone could see that Zhao Biao was accelerating. Class One’s cheering intensified.
Ou Ye was taken to the infirmary by two male students and Fang Duo was left behind. Upon seeing this scene, she immediately shouted, “Classmates, Sheng Yang, a girl, is fighting so hard for us on the track. Let’s cheer her on!”
“Yes!” The girls were so excited that their eyes were wet. Sheng Yang was a model for them indeed.
And the boys also felt ashamed for not running in Ou Ye’s place earlier and turned this guilt into a strength.
Class Seven broke into a tsunami of shouts and cheers, completely drowning out the voices of Class One.
“Hmph? Just because they’re louder doesn’t mean they’ll win!” A girl muttered and looked at Sheng Yue. “Yueyue, don’t you think so?”
Sheng Yue nodded slightly but still didn’t look away from the track.
Zhao Biao was a sports professional while Sheng Yang was just a village girl. The two were completely incomparable.
But for some reason, she felt somewhat jittery.
Zhao Biao had accelerated, but after all this time, the gap between him and Sheng Yang hadn’t closed at all!
Han Jingyu also pursed his lips and watched silently. Due to his affinity for numbers, he could see that the gap was widening instead of narrowing although Zhao Biao’s current speed was much faster than usual.
So that girl…
Han Jingyu’s eyes were as deep as pools, inscrutable.
Seeing that Sheng Yang was going to hit the finish line ahead of Zhao Biao, the Class One students shouted anxiously, “Zhao Biao, what are you doing?!”
“Are you trying to be polite even at a time like this?”
“Zhao Biao, if you don’t get first place, just you wait!”
Zhao Biao felt very anxious. He had tried his best, but whenever he thought he would catch up with her, the gap widened again.
She was able to maintain their distance with ease but was deliberately teasing him like a cat playing with a mouse.
Realizing this, Zhao Biao became even angrier. How could he lose to a girl? And be teased by her?
So he accelerated again but it didn’t change anything.
At the final sprint, Sheng Yang turned serious and suddenly accelerated, widening the gap again.
“Boom—” She dashed across the finish line.
Fang Duo immediately handed her a glass of water. “Yangyang, drink some water.”
“Um.” She was only panting slightly. Sweat was running down her beautiful fair swan neck and she looked stunningly beautiful.
This was an undisputed victory for Class Seven.
The Class One students surrounded Zhao Biao, who had his hands on his knees and was gasping violently. No one handed him water. Instead, they were scolding him.
“Zhao Biao, what’s your problem?”
“Were you trying to impress that beautiful girl?”
Zhao Biao was breathless and had no strength to explain. Even if he did, he felt too ashamed to tell the truth. Fine, he’d rather let others think he purposely let that girl win.
