Chapter 70
Li Sirui turned her head and looked at the unconscious Song Anan next to her, struggling for a while before finally pressing the answer button.
Before Pei Kuang could say anything, the noisy music from the other end could be heard, sounding like it was from a bar or KTV.
"Anan, where are you?" he tried asking.
A girl's voice came from the phone, "I'm Anan's roommate. We're at a bar and she's drunk."
Pei Kuang's brows furrowed slightly as he pondered for a moment before saying, "Hello, I'm Pei Kuang. I don't know if Anan has mentioned me to you before."
Hearing it was her idol on the other end, she was naturally excited but managed to keep her voice calm as she replied, "I know, I've heard her mention you before."
Pei Kuang lightly hmm'd before asking, "Could you tell me about her condition now? How drunk is she and when do you plan to go back?"
Just as Li Sirui was about to say something, the music in the bar suddenly changed to a noisy song that made one's ears buzz.
"Give me a moment to go somewhere quieter to talk to you," she said.
With that, she entrusted Song Anan to two senior sisters and headed out of the bar.
Half an hour later.
Li Sirui supported the drunken Song Anan as they exited the side door of the bar and walked towards a black SUV with its emergency lights blinking not far away.
Although it was the side door, there were still quite a few people coming and going. A few were smoking in the alley nearby. Pei Kuang was worried about being photographed so he didn't get out of the car.
This time was different. Song Anan was drunk and it wouldn't look good if photos were taken.
Pei Kuang had opened the passenger door. With great effort, Li Sirui managed to get Song Anan seated.
Just as she was about to put on Song Anan's seatbelt, Pei Kuang beside her spoke up, "Let me do it. You get in first. I'll give you a ride back to school later."
Li Sirui didn't decline. She still had some things to say, and this obviously wasn't the place for it. They could talk more on the road.
While Li Sirui got into the car, Pei Kuang had already belted Song Anan in. With everything ready, they didn't linger and drove straight into the street.
Li Sirui sat in the back, looking calm on the surface but her heart was racing with excitement.
Ahhhh!
My god, her ancestral grave must be spewing green smoke. She was actually sitting in Pei Kuang's car!
By now, Song Anan was so drunk she had lost consciousness. All of Pei Kuang's attention was on her.
He looked at Li Sirui through the rearview mirror, feeling a little uneasy as he asked, "How much did she drink?"
At this, Li Sirui weakly raised a finger, somewhat embarrassed as she replied, "One glass."
Pei Kuang was visibly stunned. One glass made her like this?
That must have been some strong liquor.
Seeing his idol's puzzlement, Li Sirui quickly explained, "The alcohol percentage wasn't high, about the same as fruit wine. We didn't expect her to get drunk either."
And to get drunk like this!
One glass of fruit wine and she was in this state, her alcohol tolerance really was poor.
Pei Kuang felt an urge to laugh but held it in, considering the girl's roommate was in the car. He had to give her some face. With effort, he suppressed it.
"Thanks for taking care of her," he said.
Li Sirui quickly waved her hands, "It's no trouble. We're roommates. It's only right." Pei Kuang smiled without saying more.
He had heard Song Anan mention before that the roommates in her dorm got along very well and took good care of her.
The bar was near the school so it didn't take long for the car to stop at the gates of B University.
Before getting out, Li Sirui said, "I'll leave Anan to you then. There's no one in our dorm and I don't feel assured leaving her with others, so I can only trouble you."
Pei Kuang nodded lightly and chuckled, "I'm honored you trust me so much."
But Li Sirui shook her head and replied earnestly, "Mainly because Anan trusts you."
Pei Kuang was taken aback, seeming to detect something in her words, but the other clearly didn't intend to say more. So he didn't pursue it further.
"You're leaving so early for the airport. Will you be safe? Do you need someone to send you?" he asked.
Earlier on the call, Li Sirui had briefly explained her situation so Pei Kuang knew she had to leave before dawn to catch her flight.
Li Sirui quickly waved her hands, "No need. I'm going with schoolmates. It'll be safe."
Pei Kuang lightly hmm'd without insisting further, "Alright. I'll take her first then. Be safe on your trip back."
The car entered the residential area.
At first, Pei Kuang brought Song Anan directly to Song Linchuan's place but he didn't know the password to the main gate. He called but no one picked up, probably busy with work.
With no other option, he could only bring her to his place.
After entering, Pei Kuang laid Song Anan on the sofa. Her brows were slightly knitted and her face flushed red, seemingly a little uncomfortable.
Qiuqiu took the chance to come over and curiously pawed Song Anan, seeing there was no reaction, even tilting its head curiously.
"Don't bully her, go back to sleep," Pei Kuang said mercilessly as he carried the cat by the nape and tossed it aside. The little thing protested with displeased meows.
But its owner was clearly not in the mood to entertain it. Qiuqiu was a sensible cat and turned away, heading back to its cat bed.
Pei Kuang adjusted Song Anan into a comfortable position and put a pillow under her head before going to the kitchen.
He took out some honey from the fridge, intending to make a honey drink. He remembered there was some hangover medicine at home and looked to see if he could find it.
Just then, his phone vibrated in his pocket. It was Song Linchuan calling.
"Hello Pei Kuang. I was filming just now. Did you call for something?"
Pei Kuang briefly recounted Song Anan getting drunk.
"Her roommate had an early flight so she left Anan alone in the dorm. I was worried so I called you earlier to ask for your door password but couldn't get through. So I brought her to my place."
Hearing Song Anan was drunk, Song Linchuan was also very worried and anxious but there wasn't much he could do from afar. He could only ask Pei Kuang to take care of her more.
"My mom said that when my auntie gets drunk, she's very docile and won't make a fuss or cause trouble, just sleeps it off."
"Oh right, don't forget to give her hangover medicine later or she'll have a headache when she wakes up tomorrow."
Pei Kuang naturally agreed but still felt a little surprised, "She's gotten drunk before?"
Song Linchuan laughed and said, "During New Year's two years ago, my parents thought she was an adult now so they poured her a glass of red wine at the reunion dinner. But she passed out at the table before she even ate anything."
"A glass is really all it takes to knock her out huh," Pei Kuang chuckled lowly.
Song Linchuan also laughed for a bit but didn't forget to remind, "Don't mention her 'one glass knockout' when she wakes up tomorrow. I brought it up once and she blew up instantly, giving me the silent treatment for a whole day."
What would the little girl look like throwing a tantrum?
Pei Kuang raised a brow, suddenly feeling curious but immediately discarded the thought upon considering the consequences.
Ignoring someone for a whole day? That won't do.
Song Linchuan suddenly recalled something and said, "Don't you only have one bedroom? Maybe you should just come over to my place and sleep in my room tonight." Pei Kuang replied, "Don't bother moving her. She looks really uncomfortable. It's fine, I'll just sleep on the couch."
Song Linchuan agreed it made sense not to jostle a drunk person so late into the night.
After hanging up, Pei Kuang found the hangover medicine in the medicine box and checked the expiry date. Seeing it was still good, he brought a glass of honey water to the living room.
He first helped prop her up into a sitting position before softly calling, "Anan, wake up and drink some honey water first."
It took a lot of calling before Song Anan finally stirred. She whined as she opened her eyes.
"Pei...Kuang?"
Seeing she recognized him, Pei Kuang chuckled lightly, "It's me."
Song Anan blinked blearily and complained petulantly, "Pei Kuang, my head hurts. I don't feel good."
Seeing the little girl looking so wronged with red-rimmed eyes, Pei Kuang's heart ached.
He gently coaxed, "Be good. Drink some honey water first and take your medicine. You'll feel better after sleeping it off, okay?"
Song Anan obediently nodded, "Okay."
Pei Kuang first let Song Anan drink some honey water before taking a hangover pill and bringing it to her lips. Song Anan was very cooperative the whole time, truly as docile as Song Linchuan described without any fuss.
After going through all that, Song Anan suddenly seemed to regain her spirit, but she didn't act up. She just sat quietly on the sofa, staring at Pei Kuang.
Pei Kuang smiled and said, "What's the matter? Why are you staring at me like that? Is there something on my face?"
Song Anan blinked hard and waved her hand, "No, nothing on your face. But there is...there is..."
Pei Kuang raised his eyebrows, "There is what?"
Song Anan pursed her lips and said, "Something good-looking."
Pei Kuang was taken aback, seemingly not expecting this reply. He was left somewhat exasperated.
"Since I'm so good-looking, can I ask you a question?"
A hint of slyness flashed through his eyes, like a big gray wolf luring a little white rabbit.
But the drunk little white rabbit clearly had no inkling. Song Anan obediently nodded her head, "What question?"
Pei Kuang's mouth turned up slightly, his words unintentionally carrying a soothing tone, "Does our Anan have someone she likes?"
He had been looking for a chance to find this out over the past few days, but alas, he hadn't found the opportunity. Now, although it was taking advantage of her tipsiness, with the little girl so obediently drunk, it was definitely a perfect chance.
One should seize the day, seize the opportunity. Even if it meant taking advantage, he was still a decent guy.
Song Anan lowered her eyelashes and mumbled indistinctly, "Someone I like..."
Pei Kuang squatted in front of her and continued to gently coax, "Yes, someone you like. Do you have someone like that?"
Song Anan's head was dizzy. Looking at Pei Kuang's face, her vision suddenly blurred.
She pushed Pei Kuang away and uncharacteristically threw a tantrum, "Move...move away. I'm dizzy. I want to sleep."
Having said that, she actually slanted her body and closed her eyes to lie down on the sofa.
Pei Kuang: "..."
Great! Just shy of reaching the goal, he had gotten excited for nothing.
It seemed he should refrain from taking advantage of people in the future. Even the gods were not on his side.
Pei Kuang didn't hassle her anymore. He carried Song Anan back to the bedroom and tucked her into bed.
He saw her pillow was a little crooked, so he leaned down, supported her head with one hand, and adjusted the pillow's position with the other.
But just as Pei Kuang was about to pull back, a pair of hands suddenly wrapped around his neck.
The next moment, his lips met with a soft
