Chapter 59
Song Anan's sudden arrival helped relieve some of the tension at the scene.
Pei Kuang's actions took everyone by surprise, including Han Ming himself. After working closely together these past days, they had some sense of Pei Kuang's style. Although he didn't seem as gentle on the surface, he had a good sense of propriety.
Based on Pei Kuang's personality, it was basically impossible that he would attack someone recklessly like this at a show's filming site. To be frank, this kind of behavior was more in line with Song Linchuan's temperament.
Han Ming had just been hurried away by his agent. The director had insisted on keeping Pei Kuang from leaving, worried the two might fight again at the villa and things would really spiral out of control.
Just then, the staff at the villa said Han Ming had left, so naturally there was no reason to detain Pei Kuang any longer.
Song Anan and Pei Kuang walked from the studio building to the path leading to the villa area at the hospital.
Pei Kuang glanced down at Song Anan beside him. "You..."
Song Anan looked up at him. "Hm?"
Pei Kuang hesitated. "Aren't you going to ask why?"
Song Anan gave Pei Kuang a cursory glance but didn't reply.
She wasn't stupid. It didn't take much thinking to guess Pei Kuang's altercation with Han Ming definitely had to do with her.
"No need," Song Anan said after a few seconds of silence. "I'll help family but not their reasoning."
Pei Kuang's eyes brightened and he chuckled. "Help family but not their reasoning?"
So the little girl had already grouped him into the 'family' category, huh.
Seeing his happy expression, Song Anan lowered her eyes and slowly said, "Mm, you and Linchuan are the same to me, I don't play favorites."
Pei Kuang: "???"
The two soon entered the villa area and could see Li Dong waiting at the door from afar.
When Li Dong saw them, he hurried over.
Looking at Pei Kuang, he exclaimed in surprise, "I heard you got into a fight with Han Ming?"
Pei Kuang unconsciously glanced at Song Anan and hinted to Li Dong with his eyes.
"No, I was just explaining things to him."
But Li Dong was completely oblivious to Pei Kuang's subtle signals. Thinking Pei Kuang was just brushing him off, he directly refuted, "Don't give me that. Does explaining need knocking Han Ming to the ground?"
Pei Kuang: "......"
Great, he could do without this agent.
- At this point, the filming was basically wrapped up and all the guests should be moving out, Song Anan included of course.
It was still a bit early. The other interns were probably still at the department saying goodbye to the other staff. After all, aside from the few interns, some nurses and doctors from the hospital had also participated in the filming.
The villa was empty. Song Anan went straight to her room. She was only staying here temporarily and didn't have many belongings, so she finished packing up quickly.
But the others hadn't returned yet. Song Anan planned to wait downstairs and bid them farewell when they got back.
But just as she came down dragging her suitcase, the doorbell rang.
Song Anan was puzzled. The villa had a fingerprint password lock that the resident interns all knew the code for, so it definitely wasn't one of them ringing the bell.
Who could be coming by at this time?
Song Anan opened the door and saw Li Dong standing outside. She was surprised.
"Looking for me?"
Li Dong nodded slightly. "There's something..."
Song Anan mused inwardly. She wasn't very familiar with Li Dong. If he was looking for her, the chances were high it had to do with Pei Kuang.
"Come in and talk."
After entering the living room, Song Anan thought to offer Li Dong a drink, but found there was nothing in the house.
"Sorry, there's nothing to drink here."
Li Dong quickly waved his hand and declined the offer.
Song Anan let out a soft "Mm," looking at Li Dong and waiting for him to continue.
After organizing his words, Li Dong said, "Little sister-in-law, I'd like to ask a favor."
Song Anan paused. "What favor?"
Li Dong sighed softly. "I heard from Liu Hao that he saw you when he came to deliver something to Pei Kuang. Right?"
Song Anan nodded. "What about it?"
Li Dong went on asking, "Do you know what he delivered?"
Song Anan suddenly had an uneasy feeling. "I know. Sleeping pills."
This time it was Li Dong's turn to be surprised. He really hadn't expected Song Anan to know.
"He said the jet lag hadn't worn off yet and he had a bit of insomnia. There was still filming the next day and he was worried he wouldn't be in good condition." Song Anan supplemented.
Li Dong finally understood what had happened. He knew it - with Pei Kuang's personality he shouldn't have told Song Anan about this.
"He lied to you. It's not jet lag, he has chronic insomnia."
Song Anan froze in place, her mind going blank.
Pei Kuang had chronic insomnia?
How was that possible? He clearly said... Li Dong held nothing back now that he had come to persuade Song Anan to talk to Pei Kuang. Naturally he had to tell it like it was. In fact, Pei Kuang had been having some sleep issues for years, but it had gotten much more severe in the past two years. His medication had increased more and more.
Li Dong was worried this would lead to bigger problems if it continued.
"Please persuade him to at least go get checked out at the hospital."
Hearing Pei Kuang's unwillingness to see a doctor, Song Anan could sit still no longer. She got up and ran straight for the neighboring villa.
The doors weren't locked so she made it upstairs unimpeded, and happened to run into Pei Kuang coming out of his room.
Seeing Song Anan, Pei Kuang was surprised. "What's the hurry? Did something happen?"
Song Anan stared straight at him and yelled angrily, "You lied to me!"
Pei Kuang was a little intimidated by her reaction and didn't dare retort casually.
He lied to her?
Was it about the fight with Han Ming? No, that couldn't be right. Li Dong had just exposed him to his face just now.
Judging by the girl's response now, it shouldn't be about that.
Just as Pei Kuang was utterly confused, he saw Li Dong walk up behind the two and instantly understood what this was about.
Li Dong had just tried persuading him to see a doctor again earlier. He had brushed it off with a few vague words, thinking the matter would end there. He didn't expect Li Dong to go next door and talk to Song Anan.
Pei Kuang tried to explain, "Listen to me, it's really not a big deal. My own situation..."
"What do you know? Are you a doctor?" Song Anan impatiently cut him off and glared at him. "Even if you were a doctor, you still can't treat yourself! Don't spout nonsense here!"
Pei Kuang was a little stunned by the scolding.
This was the first time he had seen Song Anan speak so aggressively, moreover it was the first time he had seen her so furious.
It was no exaggeration to say he wouldn't be surprised if the girl started beating him the next second.
"Go to the hospital!"
Song Anan stubbornly stared at him, as if she would keep up this standoff until he agreed.
Pei Kuang was at a bit of a loss. He didn't know if she was anxious or angry, but Song Anan's eyes were slightly red, seeming like she could break out crying at any moment.
This wasn't giving him a choice at all. If he dared to refuse, he didn't dare imagine what the girl would do next.
Pei Kuang silently sighed and finally conceded defeat.
"Alright, I'll go."
After getting his promise, Song Anan relaxed. "Okay, you two wait here. I'll go arrange it and come get you when it's ready."
Without wasting any time, she headed out to make arrangements.
But before leaving, Song Anan was still worried and turned to threaten Pei Kuang, "If you dare run off, I'll..."
Pei Kuang raised a brow. "You'll what?"
Song Anan thought hard for several seconds, seemingly unable to come up with a credible threat. Finally she could only blurt out angrily, "I'll post on Weibo telling everyone what an unfilial person you are!"
Pei Kuang: "......!"
